Français Le RX-79[G] Gundam Ground Type a été utilisé notamment par le bataillon Kojima opérant en Asie du Sud-Est, qui a déployé 12 unités RX-79[G]. Cependant, comme les RX-79[G] ont été construits à partir de pièces de rechange RX-78, la réparation des unités endommagées est devenue une question délicate en raison de l'indisponibilité des pièces de rechange. Le résultat a été la création d'unités RX-79[G] personnalisées telles que le RX-79(G)Ez8 Gundam Ez8 piloté par le commandant de la 08e équipe MS du bataillon Kojima, Shiro Amada, ou le Gundam de Karen Joshua avec une tête de GM. Federation Research and Development a utilisé trois unités RX-79[G] dans son programme de développement EXAM (voir l'entrée sur Blue Destiny ci-dessous). Apparaît pour la première fois dans Mobile Suit Gundam: The 08th MS Team OVA, conçu par Kunio Okawara.
