HG 1/144 Hyaku Shiki OLD KIT TRIBUTE Ver. Trades Gold for Bright Yellow
Bandai Spirits has revealed the HG 1/144 Hyaku Shiki (OLD KIT TRIBUTE Ver.), a new Gundam Base exclusive displayed at the 64th All Japan Model & Hobby Show. Scheduled for January 2027, the release replaces the mobile suit's familiar gold armor with a nostalgic bright yellow finish.
A Tribute to the Original 1985 Kit
This edition uses the standard HG kit released in 2016 as its base, but changes the gold-colored armor runners to bright yellow plastic. The look pays tribute to the original 1/100 Hyaku Shiki model kit released alongside Mobile Suit Zeta Gundam in 1985.
Beyond the color change, the kit retains the standard version's sharp proportions, articulation, and equipment. A beam rifle, beam sabers, and clay bazooka are included, so the nostalgic finish does not come at the expense of the modern HG build.
The Story Behind Hyaku Shiki
The MSN-00100 Hyaku Shiki was originally developed under the Z Project as the transformable Delta Gundam. When its movable frame could not withstand the stresses of transformation, the design was reworked into a non-transforming mobile suit that still delivered outstanding performance for its era.
Its Gundarium armor received an anti-beam coating, creating the machine's signature gold appearance. The OLD KIT TRIBUTE edition turns that familiar visual identity into a deliberate throwback for longtime Gunpla collectors.
